I haven’t blogged for some time but it’s time to get things moving again. So before I launch into rants about crap cycling in Taunton… a little fun. Last week the members of Taunton Tweed Cycle Chic took to the cycle paths and rode from Vivary Park to Maunsell Lock. The weather was hot, hot, hot so we only managed Tweed through town, but with bells ringing and loud ‘Good Mornings’ we certainly got noticed. Thanks go to Brian from Bicycle Chain for leading us off. We stopped for lunch at the canal side cafe and strummed ukuleles using the new ‘Bicycle and Ukulele Saddlebag Song Book’ (Post a comment for a free copy!). So here for you delectation are a few photographs of the day set to a toe tapping soundtrack from Django Reinhardt.
The ride was great fun, because of the superb weather and the great company but also because the majority of the ride was car free and on separate infrastucture.

A saddlebag songbook sounds divine, do share!
I just started playing a uke… Totally addicted!
Speaking as someone who is semi-patiently waiting for a bequest check to arrive so that I might (amongst other things) purchase a bicycle, I’m curious as to why the new songbook is titled “Bicycle and Ukulele Saddlebag Song Book.”
Is it a size thing or a contents thing?
Other than that… Hi, Nipper! How you been?
Looks as if “jackets off” was OK for the gentlemen. It’s gotten over 100F a few days here in Sacramento, California, USA, and in order to survive I’ve purchased a nice seersucker suit, that as yet has no chain old on the cuffs. The tweed can stay in the closet until fall.
Would love a copy of the “Bicycle and Ukulele Saddlebag Songbook.” What sort of arrangements may we make to get it from the UK to the USA?
Hope all of you enjoy a summer of great riding.
Thanks for the comments! I have sent you all a link to download the Saddlebag Songbook as an Ebook.
The book can be printed A5 and spiral bound for ease of use. It contains a collection of vintage songs from the heyday of both bicycling and ukulele… more on that in my next post.
@Rob It was a very hot day and the tweed soon came off, seersucker sounds like a good idea!
